Matt Lauer was born in New York City, the United States of America. His father, Robert Lauer, worked as an executive in a bicycle company. His mother’s name is Marilyn Lauer, and she owns a boutique. Matt may be the only child in his family there is no information about his siblings. 

He spent his early life in New York City, moved to Greenwich, Connecticut and was raised there with his mother. Matt’s parents divorced when he was young, and he lived with his mother. Matt Lauer was first married to Nancy Alspaugh, a television personality, and they both got married in 1982. The couple did not have any children, and they both filed for divorce and separated officially in 1988 after six years of marriage.
