Marc was born to his father, Walter Joseph, and mother, Mary Catherine, who is now divorced. His father is a former athlete who competed in football for Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) and was elected into the IUP Athletics Hall of Fame. When Marcus was young, he divorced, and he had a sister named Kristen Blucas; except for the name, no information was available about his sister.

In 1974, the Blucas family relocated to Erie, Pennsylvania, where Walter Blucas worked as a teacher until finally becoming the District’s Superintendent of Schools. His mother’s occupation has not been revealed.

Marcus studied at Girard High School and was a member of his school basketball team and played in many matches. He was named the star player in the school, which led to Pennsylvania Boys AA State Championship; in the process, he earned all-state honors and a sports scholarship at Wake Forest University. Then he joined the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Wake Forest University and was a basketball team member. In 1994, he graduated from there, played one season in the same court as Tim Duncan, and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. But he failed to join the NBA, so he moved to England and started to play as a professional basketball player for the year for the British Basketball League Manchester Giants from 1975 to 2001. After a year, Marcus decided to pursue his career as a lawyer, but later his mind was changed, so he decided to pursue a career in acting.

Although most young basketball players aspire to play just in the NBA, several more professional basketball options are available across the world. Marc received an invitation to play for the Manchester Giants of the British Basketball League. Still, his season was ordinary, prompting him to reconsider his objective of pursuing a basketball career. Working in the legal field appealed to him, but this idea also failed. Marc understood at one time that he could use his God-given charisma and acting skill to become a celebrity. He took acting training in Britain and gradually established a reputation for himself.

Marcus first acted in the film Eddie as Bench Knicks in 1996, and after that, he acted in the film Pleasantville as Basketball Hero. Later he acted in the films such as Summer Catch, I Capture the Castle, First Daughter, After Sex, The Jane Austen Book Club, Knight and Day, Sleeping with Other People, and many others. In 2017 and 2018, Marcus acted in the television film Miss Christmas and Season for Love. In 2019, he acted in the television series The Fix as Riv; in 2020, he acted in the series Narcos: Mexico as Rick Sacks. In 2021, Marcus acted in the series Swagger as Coach Bobby, and in 2022, he acted in the television film A Christmas… Present. 

Personal Life

Marc Blucas married producer, journalist, and presenter Ryan Haddon in a private wedding on his farm in Pennsylvania on July 25, 2009. There were about 100 of their closest friends and family members in attendance. There’s also a hilarious anecdote about their honeymoon. Marc was called in for an audition for “Knight and Day” only two days before leaving for their ideal vacation. He considered quitting the casting, but Ryan insisted on prioritizing his work, so they postponed their honeymoon. In addition to Ryan’s two kids from her marriage to Christian Slater, the pair has one daughter together. Her marriage to the famed film star was tumultuous, with her being jailed for domestic abuse on several occasions. The incident allegedly occurred in Las Vegas after a heated disagreement, during which Ryan allegedly attacked Slater with a glass, prompting him to have 20 stitches to close the wound.
