After growing up in Toronto as a single child, Julie attended Havergal College (an independent boarding and day school for females) before attending Queen’s University in Kingston. She obtained two bachelor’s degrees in political science and economics. She continued her education at the City University of London, where she received a Master’s degree in international broadcast journalism in 2007.

Julie started her media career in 2010 as a programming assistant for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where she was largely focused on reporting on the Toronto Maple Leaf’s hockey team, which competes in the National Hockey League (NHL). She was appointed as an anchor for the Fox Soccer Channel in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in the summer of 2011 while also working as a reporter for the CTV Television Network. She joined Fox Sports in June 2013 as a news update anchor; she relocated to Los Angeles for this position, hosted “Fox Soccer Daily,” and was offered the opportunity to cover the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. She also covered the Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Star Game in Denver, as well as numerous other MLS events; in 2015, she was hired by Fox as a regular sideline reporter for MLS matches.
Julie left Fox Sports in December 2016 to work as a sideline reporter for ESPN, covering Major League Soccer and USA Men’s and Women’s National Team events.
