He is best known as Bastian Bux in the movie The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter and also as Martha in the sports comedy film Ladybugs. He had acted in television series like Kate & Allie, Full House, The Wonder Years, Masters Of Illusion, Aladdin, Fall into Darkness, and many others. Jonathan died in 2003 by suicide because of depression and stress.

His mother is Mary Brandis, a school teacher, and personal manager. Jonathan was the only child in his family and had no siblings. He spent his early life in his birthplace, Danbury, with his parents, and at the age two, Jonathan first worked as a child model for the shoe brand Buster Brown.

Jonathan was found hanged died in his apartment located in Los Angeles on November 11, 2003, and he did not leave any suicide notes, and he was only 27 years old at the time of death. His body was transported to a medical center in Cedars Sinai. Jonathan’s friend reported that he was depressed about his acting career and was also very stressed because his acting scenes in the film Drama Hats war were deleted, so he began to drink and kill himself.
