Derek Fisher was born on 9th August 1974 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He completed his higher education at the Parkview Arts and Science Magnet High School. He played the role of Letterman while playing college basketball. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and majored in the subject of communications. He was an incredible player in his school time, which is why he was given the Sunbelt Conference Player of the Year award in his senior year. Derek’s NBA career kickstarted when he was picked in the 1996 NBA draft by Los Angeles Lakers and played in the same team for eight long years. His debut game was against Phoenix Suns, in which has scored 12 points and five assists. He averaged 3.9 points throughout his rookie season of 80 games. He started about 36 games out of 82 games and 13 games in the playoff. In the 98-99 season, he played 50 games and started out of them. Before the 1999-2000 season, Phil Jackson became the coach of the Lakers, and he preferred bigger guards for the team. So, to ensure his place in the team, Derek worked on his shooting skills and started 22 games out of the 78 in the next season.
