Cory Monteith is an actor and musician from Canada, but he is mainly popular for his role of Finn Hudson in the popular TV series; Glee. He played several small roles in TV series before he got cast in ‘Glee’ and gained massive popularity. After getting some success from the show, he also appeared in some films such as Montel Carlo, Sister & Brother in 2011. He went through a lot in his childhood as he was 13 years old when he got addicted to Substance Abuse. He left school at the age of 16 and joined a drug rehabilitation center after being forced by his friends and family. He revealed his drug addiction during an interview with a magazine. In the year 2013, he again went for the treatment of drug addiction but unfortunately died in 2013 due to drug abuse in a hotel in Vancouver.

Cory was born on 11th May 1982 in Calgary, Alberta. His father’s name is Joe Monteith, and her mother’s name is Ann McGregor. She worked as an Interior decorator, and his father is a soldier who worked in the Canadian Light Infantry. He also had a younger brother named Shaun. His parents got divorced when he was merely seven years old. He and his brother were brought up by their mother single-handedly in British Columbia. His father was a military man, so he met him only a few times, which made him face social difficulties while attending school. He started consuming drugs like Marijuana and abusing alcohol when he was only 13 years old.

He went to 16 different schools and, in the end, dropped out at the age of 16. As his drug addiction increased, he started getting involved in several crimes, such as theft. He started stealing money from friends and family to buy drugs.

Career beginning

Cory started his acting career by doing some small roles in movies such as Deck the Halls, Final Destination 3, whisper, etc. He also played few guest roles in TV shows such as Flash Gordon, Smallville, Supernatural, etc. he also appeared in Killer Bash in the year 2005, which was quite successful and gained massive popularity among the viewers. Maureen Web recommended him to take some acting classes, which he followers and got a role in the popular MTV series; ‘Kaya’ in 2007.

In 2009, he got a role in the Fox Series; Glee, in which he played Finn Hudson. He also was the quarterback in his high school’s football team. He is one of the most popular jocks in his school’s hierarchy. In 2010, the whole cast of Glee went on live tours in Los Angeles, and Cory was also a part of it. In April, he got cast in Monet Carlo, which was a romantic comedy.

The same year, he acted in the romantic comedy film Monte Carlo as Owen Andrews and in the comedy film Sisters & Brothers as Justin Montegan. In 2010, Corey appeared in the television series The Simpsons; in 2011, he acted in the animated series The Cleveland Show as Finn Hudson.

In 2012, Corey appeared in the television show The Glee Project, and in 2013, he appeared in the television show MasterChef which was his last television appearance. In 2013, he acted in the comedy film All the Wrong Reasons as James Asche and acted in the crime thriller McCanick as Simon Weeks; both films were released after his death.

Cory won the 16th Screen Actors Guild Awards as Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2009 for his appearances in the television series Glee. At Hollywood Style Awards 2010, he won the Male Future Style Icon Award 2010. 2011 he won the Teen Choice Awards as Choice TV: Actor Comedy. 2012 Corey won the Do Something Awards 2012 as TV Star: Male. Besides the above-given award, he has been nominated for the 2009 Teen Choice Awards for Choice TV: Actor Breakout Star Male, the 2011 Grammy Awards, the People’s Choice Awards, and many others.

Personal life

Cory’s personal life has been full of ups and downs. He started dating his co-star, Lea Michele, in 2012, and they remained together until his death. Cory was found dead in a hotel in Vancouver on 13th July 2013 and was only 31 years old at that time.

Even after his death, Lea released many songs about Corey’s death, and also, she has stated that Corey was a very private person.

Corey Monteith’s cause of death

Corey was found dead in the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel room on July 13, 2013, as he failed to come out of the room; then, they entered the room and found him dead. At the time, he was only 31 years old, then The Vancouver Police Department took his body, and on July 15, the British Columbia Coroners Services completed his autopsy. On October 2, 2013, his final report was released by the British Columbia Coroners Service. The cause of his death was that Corey had mixed drug toxicity. In March 2013, he was admitted to the rehabilitation center by himself, but he could not quit from drug addiction, leading to his death.
