Betty worked as a volunteer for American Women Voluntary services when the United States entered World War II. She met Dick Barker while working as a Volunteer. Dick worked as United States Army Air Force pilot for p-38, and they married after the war and moved to Belle Center, Ohio. Then Barker owned a chicken farm, but Betty did not like that, and they moved to Los Angles, and they divorced in a year.
