Turkmenbashi

We got slightly delayed in Turkmenbashi so instead of arriving on the overnight train from Ashgabat and getting on the ferry that day, we spent two days in the port waiting room (including an overnight stay) and it really was as dull as the picture below looks. Four of us then managed to get on a boat at about 11pm leaving the rest for their second night in the port.  Not of course that the boat actually left the port and somehow the boat the others boarded the next day left before us - we eventually left at about 10pm some 60 hours after we'd first arrived!  That said - it was actually quite fun. "Showering" in the bowsers, pictured right, was excellent and there was an eclectic seletion of people to watch including the woman on the right who, earlier in the day, had appeared sporting her Marilyn Monroe dress complete with live parrot on her shoulder.
